Cleat extender plate - XPS universal 3-hole (kit)
Description
Modern bikefitting practices are moving strongly towards increased cleat range of adjustment for many important reasons. These include the need of some riders for additional medial or lateral positioning, and in many cases a more rearward cleat position.
Medial & lateral adjustment benefits:
- Better and more direct power transfer through the pedals
- Better foot contact with the base of the shoe and pedal
- A potential reduction or elimination of medial or lateral knee pain
- Moving the shoe away from the bike to avoid hitting the frame with the heel
Rearward positioning benefits:
- It reduces the foot's "lever" effect making the foot more stable over the pedals
- It will reduce demand on the ankle and calf muscles which is highly beneficial for endurance cycling
- It can reduce or eliminate hot foot by moving pressure point away from the pedal spindle
- Useful if your existing cleat holes are located too far forward on the shoe and don't allow you to position your cleats in the "modern standard" position
If you ride Shimano SPDSL, Look KEO or any 3-hole road pedals and want to experiment with a wider or narrower cleat position, these plates will add just 3.5mm of extra stack to your cleat. And with the addition of the minus 10mm setting you can gain two changes in one. The slightly flexible plate design allows compatibility with all road shoes.
