Description

Modern bikefitting practices have evolved, especially with the advent of ultra endurance cycling and new knowledge relating to better foot positioning on the pedal. Moving the cleats back towards the mid foot can offer a number of benefits:

  • It reduces the foot's "lever" effect making the foot more stable over the pedal
  • It will reduce demand on the ankle and calf muscles which is highly beneficial for endurance cycling
  • It can reduce or eliminate hot foot by moving pressure point away from the pedal spindle

Useful if your existing cleat holes are located too far forward on the shoe and don't allow you to position your cleats in the "modern standard" position
The R20 is for riders who require a substantially more rearward cleat position compared with a standard Speedplay base plate.

Technical info

The R20 provides up to 20mm of additional rearward adjustment compared with a standard Speedplay base plate. The plate has two sets of cleat attachment holes, one in the standard position and one in the rearward position. The standard 3-hole shoe mounting points also give a wider range of fore/aft adjustment compared with a standard base plate.

Kit includes:

  • L & R - Two plates / base plate screws / cleat screws / mini Torx tool
  • Single plate / base plate screws / cleat screws / mini Torx tool

*Please note:

  • These plates are designed to use Torx countersunk screws (provided). Using any other screws could produce compromised results.
  • In some configurations minor trimming of the blue Speedplay wedges might be necessary to achieve maximum rearward adjustment. This is easily done with a craft knife, drill, or both. Please check picture gallery or get in touch for more info.
